The tire represents a forward movement, of course with a possibility of moving backwards too. The chain on the other hand represent no change, as it holds the anchor. It’s gonna be a long day :)

LOVE the image, as a risktaker, I say rusted chain over clean-treaded tire – it has more experience.
You got a point there mm. You never know what surprises an old rusty chain have to offer.
